Yahoo Bookmarks
Getting a free one-way backlink from the
World's No2 search engine will do your Yahoo web site
submission process no harm at all. While many webmasters add
their rss feed to their MyYahoo page they often
overlook the additional bookmark feature that can list their
main web site URL.
All you need to do this is a free yahoo
email account. Once you have this opened you just log-in and
click on the MyYahoo link at the top left of the page. Once
inside you will see a mainly empty page that you can now
personalize with your content options.
Click on the Add Content link that
you see in various places on the home page. On the next page
you can click on either the Yahoo Services link or
the MyYahoo Essentials link located in the column on
the left hand side.
On the next page you will see a list of
around 14 content options you can use to personalize your
MyYahoo home page. Scroll down and locate the Bookmarks
option and click on the Add link.
When you go back to the MyYahoo home page
you will see the bookmark tab now listed on the right hand
side. What we need to do now is to relocate this tab into a
more favorable position on the page which is top left. To do
this we go back to the MyYahoo homepage and click on the
Change Layout link. This is normally located on the left
hand side just above all of the content you added.
If you click on this you can now control
where the bookmark tab is listed. We need to add it to the
top of the column first. Just highlight the bookmark option
and move it to the top of the list using the up arrow. Now
we need to move the column over to the left of the page by
choosing the left arrow underneath the content column.
Once we refresh the page we can see that
the bookmark tab is now listed on the top left of the
MyYahoo homepage. Now it is time to add the URL of our web
site. Click on the Add link in the bookmarks tab and
type in our URL, Ste Name and Comments into the boxes.
Save and refresh the page and we now have
completed the bookmark backlink to our web site. If you want
to get aggressive with your marketing and add even more
weight behind your web site then you can open more MyYahoo
accounts. I would suggest no more than 20 otherwise you may
cause the alarm bells ringing at Yahoo and if they take
exception to your aggressive bookmarking of your web site
they could de-index you.
Just be sensible and try and make it look
as natural as possible by adding more bookmarks over time.
Add them all at once and this will be a red flag alert for
Yahoo.
